What Do You See ?

As I look around me, I see everything as a possible photograph. It might be a shadow cast by the sun, people chatting on the street, the pattern on a curtain, the water on the windscreen at the car wash.. everything is to me a new and exciting image.

Generally, when I see something I want to photograph, I grab my camera, snap and then process it into the image that I have in my mind.

However, this is not always the image that you, the viewer sees, and this is what makes art of any kind, be it painting, sculpture, photography etc. so unique and exciting. I love when I post a completed image and I get feedback (positive feedback or creative criticism only please !) and people see something completely different to what I saw. It opens a whole new world to me and I enjoy seeing it through their eyes.

The photograph below is a case in point. When I took this image, I had a very distinct idea of what I saw and wanted to show, however, when I put the final image up on show I received so many various and interesting theories as to what it might be or what it reminded people of. It was wonderful knowing that something I had created caused people to think and discuss.

So, never be afraid to offer a different opinion or view on a piece of artwork, as art is really down to the eye of the beholder and good art should make you think and discuss. But remember, be kind, art is very often produced from the "soul" or "heart" of an artist and they see and feel something that you may not.

Happy New Year to you all

To me it looks like lots of Victorian-era ladies out walking.
